PERS (Personal Emergency Response Systems) and mobile PERS offer their users a true sense of freedom and safety, knowing they can receive emergency assistance with the push of a button. Living at home for as long as possible is a goal that most of us share. But as we age, changes associated with aging make it a challenge to remain at home. Having a medical alert system is one of the things we can do to make staying in our home safer.

Seniors seeking to maintain independence as they age, family members seeking peace of mind, along with security sensitive students, lone workers or workers who spend a significant amount of time alone or work swing or graveyard shifts can benefit from having a personal alarm. They are not just for medical needs; they can also be used to summon police or fire services.

All of our equipment is offered on a monthly lease agreement. The cost of our medical alert service starts from a little more than a dollar a day and there are no hidden costs, no long-term contracts, no equipment to buy and you can discontinue service at any time. Call Columbia Medical Alarm at (503) 644-4736 for pricing information and additional services, such as fall detection buttons that can automatically call out when you are unable to press the button.

A PERS (personal emergency response system) gives you the peace of mind knowing that you will receive a quick response in an emergency. With the simple press of a button, at any time of day or night, you or your loved one is quickly connected with a highly trained Personal Response Associate. They will quickly make voice contact, assess the situation and then notify the appropriate support and medical team, as required. The Response Centers are 100% U.S. based and are simply the most capable and reliable facilities of their kind.

Columbia Medical Alarm, Inc. carries a full line of medical alert products. Our medical alert products include personal emergency response systems (PERS), both for at home or when you are out and about (mobile PERS); both include 24/7 monitoring. We also offer medication reminders and medication management systems. All of our services also come with the personal assistance of our local office.

Columbia Medical Alarm, Inc. works closely with our clients to determine what system is the best fit for their lifestyle. If you spend most of your time at home, and only leave home with others, an in-home system might be best. However, if you leave the home often, and periods of that time you are alone, a mobile system may be best. A mobile system goes with you wherever you go, so you have the freedom and flexibility of always having access to help whenever it is needed.

No, our devices use their own cellular service to contact the 24-hour monitoring center. The equipment will not interfere with the client’s personal cell service or wifi system.

Fall detect is an option that can be added to a personal emergency response system. When a fall is detected, the system will automatically call the response center. The type of fall is specific to a rapid straight-over fall, such as when a tree falls, and then no motion for a period of time. A partial or slow fall may not set off the system. Although this is a good option to add, it is always recommended that the client push the button themselves any time they need help.

Yes, the button is water-resistant and can be worn in the shower for safety.

No. When a signal is received by the 24/7 monitoring center, the response associate will speak directly to you and get the help you need — whether it is a responder or 911 and we can relay important medical information about you and your situation.

A responder can be a neighbor, friend, or relative who lives close to you and can be called upon to assist you when needed.

A personal emergency response system connects you to a network of knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful people who can assist you when help is needed. Often a smartphone or smartwatch only connects you with a 911 service and cannot relay any important and helpful information for quick access by EMTs. Our 24-hour response associate can relay critical information specific to you and reach out to your loved ones. Smartphones or watches need to be on a charger for some period of time or at night.

The standard button is very lightweight and small and can be worn around the neck or wrist. The mobile button is a little bit larger, about the size of a tic-tac box, and can be worn around the neck, wrist, or an optional belt clip. They are designed to be lightweight for the product to perform properly.
