How does the Philips Lifeline Medical Alarm work?

When an emergency happens the following steps occur in the Lifeline system:

  1. Summon Help
When you need help, just press your Personal Help Button, which activates the CarePartner Communicator.
  2. Professional Intervention
Your CarePartner Communicator then dials the Lifeline Response Center and establishes two-way voice communication.
  3. Personal Response
Quickly, a Lifeline Response Associate accesses your profile and assesses the situation.
  4. Closed Loop
The Associate then contacts a neighbor, loved one or emergency services, based on your specific need. The Lifeline Response Associate will follow up to ensure that help arrived.

If I live out of town will I be notified of an emergency?

The wonderful thing about Lifeline is that the service will always be there even if you can't. You can reassure your senior parent, elderly relative, or loved one that they're always in close touch with those who care. If the Lifeline Personal Help Button is pressed, Lifeline will quickly send the most appropriate assistance and will notify you about exactly what actions were taken (such as contacting a neighbor, family member, doctor or emergency service providers.

I am a full time caregiver and how can Lifeline help me?

You know that caregiving for a senior parent, an elderly relative, or other loved one is a full-time job requiring almost constant attention. But you also understand the need for an occasional break to help you restore your own sense of balance and well-being. The wonderful thing about Lifeline is that it can give you that important break (even if it's only a couple of hours to do errands) and reassure your loved one that help is always a press of a button away. If the Lifeline Personal Help Button is pressed, Lifeline will send the most appropriate assistance and will notify you about exactly what actions were taken (such as contacting a neighbor, family member, doctor or emergency service providers.

What is the independent living assessment for older adults?

Developing a plan for the future can be difficult, but not having a plan can be more costly, and cause more heartache. That's why Philips Lifeline and Columbia Medical Alarm is sponsoring the Independent Living Assessment for older adults and their families to plan for the future while continuing independent living at home. This valuable in home service provides a no cost independent living assessment to see if a medical alarm system is needed at home.

What is a Medication Dispensing Service?

Complex medication regimens can result in unintended mistakes that can result in serious outcomes. In fact, misuse of medications results in 1 of 10 hospital visits each year and is the number one reason for nursing home admissions among seniors. The Philips Medication Dispensing Service is the only proven service that, by collaborating with caregivers, offers a 98.6% adherence rate for taking the right medications at the right times and in the right way. That means simplification of complex regimens, fewer errors, fewer complications and greater independence for individuals whose medications are important to healthy living.
